Athens, Greece - Anarchists are likely responsible for the first event of 2008, recorded by Athens police. At 4:43 on the first morning of the year, a branch of Geniki Bank, a subsidiary of the larger Kyprou Bank, was firebombed in the Kypseli area of central Athens. No one was injured and the entrance to the building was damaged. Anarchists regularly take responsibility for arson attacks on banks in the city.
