Gijon, Basque, Spain - Radical unionists from the Izar shipyards blocked traffic into the town with a burning barricade to protest government plans to privatize the Gijon as well as Sestao, Manises, and Seville shipyards. Workers decided at meeting of a few hundred people to increase the pressure against the government with more militant demonstrations twice a week. A similar labor dispute in 2004 sparked massive protests and riots.
