Cop Watch

  • San Bernardino County, California, U.S. – It’s been nearly two weeks since Deputy Ivory Webb ordered Senior Airman Elio Carrion to stand up and then shot him three times for no obvious reason. Carrion was a passenger in a car that Deputy Webb had been perusing. Despite the fact that the incident was caught on tape there have been no charges against the deputy.
  • Manatee County, Florida, U.S. - Three police officers have been suspended for having sex while on the job and in uniform. Deputy Christopher D. Folds, who is a school resource officer at Lakewood Ranch High School, is alleged to have had sexual relations with teenage students. Folds, 37, denied the charges but admitted that he had engaged in sexual relations, while in uniform, in his patrol car "a couple of years ago" with a woman who he said was not a minor. He also said that he exchanged cell phone numbers and chatted with two former students at an area restaurant. The allegations were first made by an anonymous tip. It is unclear if Folds will return to his School duties after serving a 30 day suspension.
  • Wichita, Kansas, U.S. – The Wichita Police Department is issuing its school resource officers with tasers guns. In Florida were school resource officers are already armed with tasers there have been numerous incidents were police have used them on children as young as 13 years old. Tasers cause dozens of deaths each year.
  • Shanyin County, Shanxi Province, China - Two police officers claimed that a "gang of 18 thugs" beat them up and stole all of their valuables worth at least 6,000 yuan (US$744). The two were on their way to a village were they had been sent to settle a dispute when the were accosted.
