Dubbo, Australia - Racial tensions between police and aboriginals boiled over around 2 AM this morning outside a public housing complex. Two undercover police detectives in a new unmarked car stopped an aboriginal youth they suspected of driving a stolen station wagon. The officers were attacked and beaten by a large group of youths; and their cruiser and the station wagon were torched. One of the detectives was hostpitalized with a broken jaw and the other released with cuts and bruises. A police spokesperson said that "they're lucky they're alive." One youth was also injured and four other arrested. Police are preparing to ensure that violence does not continue into a second night.
