Poznań, Poland - Police surrounded the Poznań Equality March, which had been declared illegal by Poznań's conservative Roman Catholic government, and violently arrested as many people as they could transport. The march was organized by local anarchists and other activists to promote tolerance and equal rights for women and gay people. Fascist skinheads pelted demonstrators with eggs and chanted "We are going to do with you what Hitler did with the Jews." Would-be marchers who the police did not have room for in their vans held a solidarity demonstration outside the jail for those who were arrested.
