Europe - The French government has voted to extend the nation-wide state of emergency for three months as riots continue, despite claims that the violence is deescalating. Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy blamed disturbances in the Lyon city center on a "demonstration by anarchists." Dozens of anarchist youths in central Athens firebombed Citroen and Mercedes dealerships and then a police station in the Zographou area of Athens.
